January is here and with it a new year. I hope that it is a year full of promise. Did you make any New Year’s resolutions? I know I did. I’m sure that a lot of New Year’s resolutions don’t make it past the first week of the new year, but I trust that we can do better than that. In our church, Pastor Gary has been talking about resolve this year. As Christians, our resolve should not be focused on some simplistic self-improvement goal like: “Lose 10 pounds” or “Be a better person this year”. Rather, we should resolve to be better servants of Christ, to grow in our Christian faith, to communicate Christ to others through our words, our actions and most of all, our love. That’s a tall order, but it’s something we all can do if we are willing to put forth the effort. Where do we start? We must begin by affirming our relationship with Christ. Then we need to spend time with Him, in prayer, by reading God’s Word, by worshiping regularly. Finally, we need to set priorities. We need to resolve to put Christ first in everything we do. It’s only through Him that we can have real success in 2007.
