Okay, to quickly re-cap. At this point, the Bible states we should not drink human blood (Gen 9:4, Acts 15: 20, 29). Now, we need to look at communion and remember I bolded those key words from Christ. Let's look at them again for a refresher: "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." 20. And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood." This can be found in Luke 22.

Okay, the first part states that his body is given for us, we do this in remembrance of me. The second part states that the cup is poured out for you, this is the new covenant in My blood? Huh, what does that mean? Let's pop over to Hebrews 9: 11-22. Once again, I will highlight, but please read the entire passage. "13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator... 22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."

This talks about the new testament or covenant. We see why Moses used blood to cleanse the Israelites from the sins, and the last verse, tells why the blood was used. Now, Christ shed his blood for us, and that the new covenant was established through his shed blood. "This cup (wine / grape juice) which is poured out for you is the new covenant (Hebrews 14:15) in My blood (Hebrews 14:22)."

So, in conclusion, we see that the body is represented by the bread / wafers (following the Passover of unleavened bread), and the wine / grape juice follows that believers in Christ are covered by his shed blood and we are to remember his death and resurrection by partaking in the Lord's supper.

How often should we do it? Who should partake? I'll save that for another day

Very Happy
Peace, and God Bless,
Charles
